With mild Fall weather, color moved through the Rockies in a gradual wave this year, rather than a sudden sweep. Some aspen had already lost their leaves while stands nearby were in full color and others were still green. The wave of color swept up the flanks of Cirrus Mountain, cresting where the top of the treeline meets the rugged rock face. In afternoon light, the side of the mountain took on an amazing glow.
